Blood on the Cable Bill

Bunnie Riedel “fries her biscuits” on a recent behind-the-scenes study of cable operator Comcast’s rationale for charging customers annually increasing rates. The report, prepared by consultants Garth Ashpaugh and Dick Treich, skewers, point-by-point, Comcast's reasoning for billing customers in the aggregate way that they do. Ashbaugh and Treich conclude that Comcast has set up a system to systemically rip off their customers while, at the same time, refusing to offer more Public, Educational and Government (PEG) programming on grounds that they're eager to preserve lower customer costs. Riedel comments: “It is time to end this tyranny of rate gouging and maybe it’s time for Congress to be horse-whipped for letting these fiends get away with bloody murder.”
