Tsunami Bloggers Forge Tribal News Network

James Borton writes: "At the time of this Asian tragedy, and with so many challenges facing the region, the bloggers have provided a common space on which grief and charity have been fully expressed." Note special mention of MediaChannel affiliate Malaysiakini.com.

Also read Om Malik's assessment at Business 2.0: "While most networks . . . were regurgitating wire service copy and the same six minutes of videotape, Americans were turning to weblogs for the latest news and to peer-to-peer services like BitTorrent for videos, most of them shot by amateurs."

Does watching all of the death and destruction make you happier or better informed? It happened, it is not good, help where you can and leave it alone. We have enough problems here you can feel bad about.
